Post #120 - From One Giveaway to Another

I never mean to take these breaks from blogging. Seriously. I always hate it, especially when I see people churn out post after post. But I have a good reason this time!

I finally started a new job on October 22. Funds are still a little slim, so new purchases and postage have been luxuries that I didn’t afford myself. It’s been a struggle to not pick up a pack here and there but I’ve done well so far!

Unfortunately the lack of outgoing packages has meant a lack of incoming packages except for some eBay wins - more on that below. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t show off my newest pickups from the one and only Night Owl.

You see, N.O. recently turned 10. Well, his blog did. And to celebrate the occasion, he held a giveaway for the first 30 or so commenters on a certain post. I was lucky enough to get in under the deadline and fortunate enough to pick up something for my collection.

From the word go I had my eyes on this card. You see, it was really the only one in the massive offering that fit my collection. Also, as I’m currently without a scanner you’ll have to do with photographs.

It’s rare that I add a Short Print to my main collections. In fact the only other one is a Posey SP from this same set that I pulled from a hangar box last year. So this one is an awesome addition and I love the shot of Bench.

Night Owl threw in a bonus card as well:

I like adding Shawn Green cards. Especially ones I don’t have! Thanks to N.O. this one can be crossed off the want list and it now rests safely with the rest of my collection.

Greg, thanks for an extremely generous giveaway. I’ll see about rounding up a package of Dodgers for you sometime soon.

And now, for my own giveaway! Last year I did my Season of Giving, where I gave away a card (or two!) from my collection every day from December 1 right up to Christmas Day. Unfortunately I won’t be doing QUITE the same thing this year. Quite frankly 25 straight days of posting wore me out and by the end of it, it was more of a chore than anything.

However! I will still be doing giveaways. This year we will run the 12 Days of Giving from December 13-December 24! A few less posts but hey, take it or leave it! Also new this year are the prizes. Whereas last year was a random assortment of Hall of Famers each day, I’ve stocked up this year. Most of my (minuscule) eBay winnings have gone to picking up cards for this. While I still need to get organized, all 12 cards given away this year will be memorabilia, manufactured, or numbered less than 100. Not many super big names but hits are hits, right?!

Hopefully we will have a nice turnout this year for the event and I can help spread some holiday cheer. I’ll have more details with rules and structure coming up in a future pose. Until then, have a great evening and thanks for reading!
